Colorado Creative Industries Grant

Trinidaddio Concert Series Press Release ~ For Immediate Release

Trinidaddio Blues Fest (TBF) is made possible in part by a grant from Colorado Creative Industries.  We are pleased to report that we have received a grant through the Colorado Arts Relief Fund, a funding initiative passed by the State of Colorado Legislature during the First Extraordinary Session of the 72nd General Assembly from the Small Business Relief Program provided through Colorado Creative Industries (CCI) a division of the Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT).

We would like to wholeheartedly thank Senator Cleave Simpson and Representative Richard Holtort for their continued support of the agency and this year’s appropriation.

Your support will allow us to once again hold the Trinidaddio Blues Fest, an annual, end-of-summer outdoor event. Always held on the Friday and Saturday before the Labor Day weekend, it was inaugurated in 1999 with an estimated attendance of 900. The crowd grew quickly to become the largest single annual event in Trinidad, drawing thousands of visitors to the community from throughout the United States, principally from along the I-25 corridor from Denver to Albuquerque. Over its long history as a three-day weekend, Trinidaddio has brought millions of tourism dollars into our local businesses and has generated hundreds of thousands of dollars of tax revenue for the City of Trinidad and the City of Trinidad Tourism board. The Trinidaddio Blues Festival has consistently been one of the top revenue-generating weekends both for the local merchants and businesses and for the City of Trinidad and Las Animas County.

2021 brought major and exciting changes to the Trinidaddio Blues Festival. The site of was moved to the central business district and along with the successful pre-fest party at Commercial and Main, Trinidaddio for the first time became a two-day completely free event. The Entertainment District bars and restaurants provided drinking and dining options for the attendees, and the downtown merchants were able to share the opportunity to serve the festival goers. Another stellar lineup of national and regional touring blues acts rocked the downtown for two evenings and the festival was transformed into an event accessible to all residents and visitors.

The grant has helped TBF engage in a campaign to acquire sponsors among local business and private individuals who have additionally supported your project and ours.  Additional funding may allow us to hold a second event at the end of July.

Thank you very much for your support!!
