Trinidaddio Wins President’s Award

Winners and nominees flank 2017 Chenoweth Award winner Cy Michaels at the annual Chenoweth Award Banquet held at the Holiday Inn & Suites on Saturday, March 24. A longtime local hotelier and community promoter received the 2017 Chenoweth Award at a Saturday, March 24 banquet sponsored by the Trinidad and Las Animas County Chamber of Commerce, and held at the Holiday Inn Hotel and Suites. Cy Michaels, co-owner and manger of the La Quinta Inn & Suites located at 2783 Toupal Drive received the award from former Chenoweth Award winner Linda Barron before a crowd of more than 100 people.

Jerry Campbell and Rusty Goodall, City Council member, co-leaders of the annual Trinidaddio Blues Fest, were jointly nominated for their dedication to Trinidad, their many hours of public service to local nonprofits and for the success of the Blues Fest.

The Chamber gave out three other awards. Earth Mountain Farms and Comida Market won the Community Contributions Award, with leader Joni Steiner accepting the award. Campbell and Goodall won the President’s Award for their hard work in organizing the Trinidaddio Blues Fest. The First National Bank in Trinidad won the Longevity Award for its 143 years of service to the Greater Trinidad community, with bank Chief Executive Officer Ed Eisemann accepting the award.
